The teacher

A Zen master in suspenders – Philippe Gaulier certainly is what you’d call a character. But this seemingly funny old man is a lot more than just this: He is one of the most renowned and successful teachers of acting and clowning worldwide. And a wise man who has lead many to recognize some of the deeper truths in life.

Gaulier has been an inspiration to people such as Emma Thompson, Sacha Baron Cohen (a.k.a. Ali G.) or Helena Bonham Carter and a host of other actors, entertainers, managers and leaders.

Gaulier is a director, a writer, but most of all: an exceptional teacher. His acting school was established in Paris in 1980. In 1991 Gaulier, following an invitation by the British Arts Council, moved the school to London. In 2002 he returned to Paris.

His workshops – for actors and leaders alike – took him to many countries and cities, among them France, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Austria, the Netherlands, Israel, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada and the United States.
